HOW TO BE CONFIDENT IN YOUR STYLE

Currently listening to Fever | Wizkid

I’m one of those people whose confidence level goes up by 100% once they dress up and look good but I bet this isn’t any surprising to you and today I’d be sharing some things I particularly do and some that I avoid to feel my flyest in my own style and clothes.

TIP ONE : EMBRACE YOUR FIGURE AND DRESS FOR IT

You’d most likely find me on the streets in loose fitting clothes because that’s what I feel most confident and comfortable in. I don’t want to be pulling down my dress or walking by and having untaught men stare at my derrière, so I love me my wrap dresses especially as they usually come with belts that cinch my waist offering me a win win situation as I can flaunt my figure and still not have to worry about anything.

TIP TWO : ALWAYS WEAR THE RIGHT UNDERWEAR

I made the mistake of wearing a bra with straps under a cami kinda top and boy my confidence level was going in and out just like my straps because I spent most of the time out adjusting the straps, worrying about if I’m adjusting it subtle enough and when I’m not adjusting I’m thinking ‘is the strap out yet’. This isn’t a good experience and might have you feeling not so great about yourself because whether you like it or not, they are called ‘underwears’ for a reason.

TIP THREE : PAY ATTENTION TO CHOICE OF FABRIC

Some fabric like silk and satin might be very elegant but can easily show off sweat patches or even get wrinkly really fast, so if you’re not going to be prim and proper all day, I’d advice you stay away from those unlike cotton or chiffon fabrics that dry really fast even when you get sweaty and also have a way of straightening themselves out once they’ve been worn.

TIP FOUR : KEEP IT MINIMAL

Playing with neutrals in your outfits like black, navy, blues, browns etc have a way of making you look and feel very put together and the good thing is they are never out of style so you would’nt have to worry if you look fashionable enough for the occasion that might cause you not be confident enough. Also prints can be very tricky but floral is a safe way to go like I have done in this outfit.

TIP FIVE : DRESS FOR YOURSELF

It’s important to not focus our mindset on trying to steal the spotlight of the day, trying to get the attention of another person or even pretending to be someone we not through our style. There should be no room to feel the need to ‘show them’ or need to compete with other people. The only way to truly be confident in yourself and your fashion choices is to love yourself and enjoy fashion for the art it is.

I’m finally back to creating content here *yipeeeeeee*, dome with university and I believe I’m ready to go back to being as consistent as I used to be. There are still so many challenges faced but I’m willing to face them squarely instead of finding shortcuts like posting only on instagram.com/thesvnflwr *hides face*. I do wish everyone reading this an amazing week filled with strength to face whatever might be a challenge this week and I also hope you have learnt a thing from this post.

Love always…

  1. Yaay look who’s back, I totally agree with everything above and most importantly dress for yourself. When you look good and you know it, compliment don’t even matter anymore

  2. I agree with the fabric factor. Suede is one fabric that gets on my nerves.

If your tailor isn’t good, kindly change tailors because any ‘trash’ he or she continues to make for you would definitely affect your confidence.

Did you just make your camera a hand bag?
    Well done!
